On March 20, 2025, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Literature & Information Center officially released its “2025 Journal Citation Reports.” In a significant breakthrough, NEFU’s English academic journal, the Journal of Forestry Research, has been ranked in the top tier (Q1) and recognized as a Top journal by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.


Established in 1990, the Journal of Forestry Research is managed by the Ministry of Education and hosted by Northeast Forestry University (NEFU). Professor Song Wenlong, the President of NEFU, serves as the Editor-in-Chief. The journal’s most recent JCR impact factor for 2024 is 3.4, placing it 9th among all forestry journals globally. Its editorial board comprises 69 distinguished experts and scholars from 18 countries and regions, with international members making up over 40% of the board.
The Journal of Forestry Research’s consistent advancement and expanding international impact have established a robust academic platform for NEFU’s “Double First-Class” initiative. It has cultivated a favorable educational environment for NEFU’s disciplinary growth and has facilitated talent development and discipline building.
