%X <p>Three <i>Chlorophytum</i><i>comosum</i> varieties were used to investigate the relationship between the root primary xylem archy and <i>C.comosum</i> varieties， diameter of the roots and living conditions by using sections cut free-hand and stained with Safranin. The root primary xylem archy in the roots of different varieties were different. The root primary xylem archy in the roots of <i>C.comosum</i> in soil culture were also different from those under hydroponic condition， and the number of xylem bundles in the roots of <i>C.comosum </i>under hydroponic conditions was much less than that in soil culture. Under hydroponic conditions， there was a positive correlation between the number of xylem bundles in the roots of <i>C.comosum </i>and the diameter of the roots， however， the root xylem archy in <i>C.comosum</i> ‘Yinxin’ and ‘Yinbian’ has no correlation with the roots diameter of <i>C.comosum</i>.</p>
