%X We studied the development of the ovule and embryo-sac of <em>Vitex rotundifolia</em> by paraffin sections to add the embryological data of Viticoideae. The ovule is hemianatropous, unitegmic and tenuinucellate. The endothelium is present. Development of the embryo-sac is of Allium type which may be derived from the monosporic Polygonum type. Allium type embryo-sac in <em>V.rotundifolia</em> is first reported in Viticoideae as well as the whole Lamiaceae.
