%X The micronucleus and abnormal division in <em>Allium sativum</em> root tips induced by polluted river water were investigated. The results showed that the mitotic index (MI) decreased(<em>p</em>&lt;0.05) and the micronuclei rate increased (<em>p</em>&lt;0.01) (treated for 24 h) when river water was polluted hard (<em>PI</em>=7.63).Meanwhile,some abnormal mitosis phenomena and pro-micronuclei were observed.
